The sand stripe of the resort is about 10 km long and 30 to 60 m wide. The resort is famous with its sand and natural dunes. There are 16 species of rare plants that grow among Sunny Beach’s dunes. Speaking about entertainment we could note that there are opportunities for surfing, water skiing, yachting, tennis, and horse ridding, bowling, open and indoor swimming pools, mini-golf. There are over 15 000 restaurants and shops on and around the resort. Some of the most famous Bulgarian festivals such as the Golden Orpheus take place on the territory of Sunny Beach. There are also the Days of the Symphonic music, folklore festivals, fashion shows, and different kinds of beach contests. The interesting part here is that the northern side of the resort is lays exactly where Stara Planina ends. It is also bordering the city of St.Vlas. The southern part of the resort is bordering the ancient city of Nessebar. The international airport of Bourgas is only 30 km away from the resort. Varna is 90 km away. The transportation in the resort is environmentally friendly – mini trains, velo-rikshas, or bikes. The hotels in Sunny beach are mostly situated along the coast line, close to the beach. Most of them are newly build or recently renovated. There is no lack of comfortable bars or amusement center, internet clubs, fitness rooms and beauty salons. All visitors of Sunny beach should know that they will be enjoying about 8-10 sunny hours during the peak of the season and about 6-8 sunny hours every day towards the end of the summer season and when it begins. The season starts in April and ends in October, as the months June, July and August are mostly preferred by the youngsters and young couples with children. While there, you will have the chance to be closely introduced to local culture though daily trips offered by your tour operator’s reps or by independent companies. You could visit a Bulgarian village or a folk style restaurant. The night life in Sunny Beach is also great and the situation is similar to the one in Golden Sands. Basically night bars and Discotheques are everywhere. The best part here is that some of them do not close at all. If you want, you can stay there all night long and then meet the sun on dawn, while sitting on the sand and drinking your cocktail. I assure you that you will not be the only one doing this. Again, most of the tourists here are from Germany, England and the Scandinavian countries, and Russia. Most of the staff is expected to speak at least one of both English and German.
